If you’re planning a trip, be sure to notify us.

We monitor activity 24/7 to protect you from possible fraud, so notifying us ahead of time that you'll be out of the area will help ensure your purchases don’t get flagged as suspicious. After you notify us, we’ll make a note on your account regarding the locations you’ll be visiting so that we won’t mistake any debit card purchases you may make in those locations as fraud.

In fact, it's a good idea to let us know whenever you plan to make a purchase that's outside of your normal spending patterns. If you use your card while traveling or make an unusually large purchase, our security system may flag an alert. When we identify unusual activity within your account, a temporary hold may be placed on your card to protect you from potential loss. The hold will be lifted once we can verify that it's actually you making the transactions and not an identity thief. Letting us know before you travel can help us ensure you have a smooth trip and avoid any inconveniences.

You can let us know of upcoming travel plans by contacting the OCCU team at 800.365.1111 or by submitting a secure message through MyOCCU Online & Mobile

Once signed in to MyOCCU Online & Mobile, select Message Center. Create a new message using the Compose Message button and select Travel Update from the Subject drop down menu.

Another thing to keep in mind before traveling is to make sure your card isn't set to expire while you're away. If your card is going to expire and you need a replacement, give us a call at 800.365.1111. It’s also a good idea to have more than one form of payment in case your card does expire, is lost or stolen while you’re traveling.
