Discover your path to financial wellness
Wellness. It’s a goal we all have. We exercise and eat right (or try to) to improve our physical wellness. We make time cultivating relationships to maintain our social wellness. We check in with ourselves and our feelings to make sure we feel well mentally.
It’s important to take steps toward your financial wellness too. As with any goal, depending on where you’re starting from, it can feel daunting. But it all starts with the first step.
Here are our four tips to soar toward financial wellness.
Set money goals and create a plan to reach them.
Much like physical wellness, setting small, achievable goals will put you on a path toward success. Maybe you want to commit to saving a certain amount every month to create an emergency fund. Maybe you want to buy a new car in a couple years. Maybe you just want to spend a little less every month on things you don’t need. Whatever it is, make a plan and commit to it.
And if you need to stray from the plan, forgive yourself and move forward. That’s good advice for your financial and mental wellness.
Update your contact information to stay in touch.
At OCCU, we take your financial security seriously. And so should you. By making sure your contact information is up to date, we can keep you informed about your accounts. Here’s how.
Shred financial documents you no longer need.
Prevent identity theft by destroying printed financial documents when you no longer need them. And consider going paperless whenever possible to reduce the amount of paper waste and personal information going into your trash can every week.
Remember to celebrate every step and goal you achieve.
You did a thing! That deserves to be celebrated. Whether you saved two months’ salary in your Ignite Savings account or managed to avoid the coffee shop all week, saving yourself $25 in the process, achievements of every size should be recognized. Getting started isn’t always easy. Sticking to something isn’t either. But you did it. Be proud.
