First annual OCCU Foundation Golf Classic: Alleviating childhood hunger in our communities
Arnold Palmer once said golf satisfies the soul. This season, it’s also nourishing the bodies of children throughout our communities.
Supporters of our nonprofit, OCCU Foundation, raised money to alleviate childhood hunger at the first annual OCCU Foundation Golf Classic, a new event where members of our community gather together on the green to help improve our neighbors’ lives. Backed by sponsors Stifel and ALM First, participants teed off at the Eugene Country Club on Oct. 10 with the goal of helping to feed children and families in need.
Thanks to the generosity and support of our sponsors, partners and the community members who joined us, we were able to raise an incredible $190,000 this year. The money will fund food security grants to community organizations that deliver free and healthy meals to children and families throughout the Pacific Northwest, including:
- Bethel Education Foundation
- Blessings in a Backpack Northwest Oregon Chapter
- Community Sharing Program
- Community Sources Consortium
- Creswell Clubhouse
- FOOD for Lane County
- Junction City Local Aid
- Marion Polk Food Share
- Neighbor Impact
- Oregon Food Bank
To all those who supported this exciting new event, we’d like to express our gratitude for your support of the OCCU Foundation and your efforts to help feed hungry children. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you. And we look forward to seeing you next year at the OCCU Foundation Golf Classic!
