Shred your way to security

File folders of documents

Spring has sprung. For many people, that means a thorough house cleaning. Spring cleaning should not only include purging belongings you don’t use anymore but also clearing paper clutter. To assist with securely disposing of paper documents, Oregon Community Credit Union is bringing Shred Fest 2017 to Lane and Marion County!

Since many documents you may have lying around your house or filling up your filing cabinet contain sensitive information, you shouldn’t just throw the documents in the trash. Rather, you should dispose of them safely. If you don’t have access to a paper shredder, Shred Fest is the perfect opportunity to get your documents shredded for free.

There are two ways to participate in Shred Fest, drive-up service or branch drop-off. Anyone can participate. Being an OCCU member is not required to get your documents shredded.

Drive-up service

The drive-up service event will be held Saturday, May 20 at the OCCU Corporate Office. We’ll provide free on-the-spot shredding of sensitive documents for up to six boxes per car.

Saturday, May 20, 2017
10 a.m.-2 p.m.
OCCU Corporate Office
2880 Chad Drive
Eugene, OR

Branch drop-off

If you can’t make to out on May 20, you can stop by any OCCU branch in the month of May. Simply bring your box of paper to dispose of in the locked shredding bins located in the lobby of each branch.

We hope to shred more than ever this year, at our ninth annual Shred Fest. We believe each document shredded helps keep our members and community safe from identity theft. But shredding isn’t the only way to protect sensitive information or eliminate clutter. Enrolling in eStatements can also get rid of those paper related headaches.

eStatements offer a safe and secure way to store your financial information. You can easily view current and past statements without the potential fraud risk that comes with paper statements. If you’re an OCCU member, simply sign in to Internet Banking and click eStatements in the left Quick Links sidebar. You can also look for other opportunities for eStatements with your other financial institutions or utility companies.

We hope you join us for Shred Fest and shred your way to security!
