A small gesture makes a big difference
In 2023, OCCU focused on our dedication to Enrich Lives.
Every pebble creates a ripple
We strive to find new ways to Enrich Lives every day. In 2023 we stepped up those efforts in some big ways. We can’t wait to see how that impact creates a ripple that spreads throughout our community.
-
Our fee savings efforts returned more than $1.8 million to members.
-
Members earned more than $41 million in dividends on their deposit accounts.
-
We hosted several financial presentations and seminars and shared nearly 100 articles and videos related to financial wellness.
-
Our member impact loans with competitive rates and flexible repayment terms continued to help those facing financial hardships.
-
We continued to expand our virtual teller service. Members can now enjoy local face-to-face service at 15 locations, with more on the way.
-
We added insurance services to provide our members with additional options to help protect their most important assets.
28,112

264,575

Onward, outward, upward!
We’re always searching for new ways to serve our members and make working with OCCU convenient. In 2023, we opened new Oregon branches in Redmond and Roseburg and we're excited to be bringing OCCU to Corvallis and Cottage Grove in 2024!
But it’s not just our branch presence that’s grown. Our members have stretched their financial muscles, too. In 2023, we welcomed more than 28,000 new members and member businesses to the OCCU family. These new members deposit their funds with OCCU which in turn helps to strengthen our financial cooperative and allows us to support the financial needs of all our member-owners helping them to buy homes and cars, start businesses and invest in themselves.
We’ve also turned our focus to the way we connect with our members. We enhanced our phone system, added text messaging and made it easier to open accounts online. We expanded video teller hours and locations and made enhancements to our online and mobile banking platforms. And we added tap-to-pay technology to our debit cards.
979,928
branch transactions.
444,994
phone interactions with our member contact center team.
32 million
debit and credit card transactions.
418,963
mobile deposits.
In the community
OCCU’s vision is to Enrich Lives and our community involvement is one way we bring that to life. By leveraging our values of tenacity, humility and big-heartedness, our team works to improve the financial wellness of our members and help to improve our community. Last year, we volunteered our time, skills and resources to help our communities thrive. In 2023 alone, OCCU team members logged more than 4,500 hours with local nonprofits and schools through our Community Outreach for Employees volunteer program.
We securely shredded 31,000 pounds of paper and sensitive documents at our annual Shred Fest and during the event our members contributed more than 2,000 pounds of food to Food for Lane County — enough to provide nearly 1,700 meals!
OCCU Foundation, established in 2018, is committed to helping nonprofits meet critical community needs and advocating for overall health and wellbeing throughout our region.
In 2023, OCCU Foundation, together with OCCU, gave more than $600,000 to support local nonprofit organizations and schools. And since launching the OCCU Foundation Golf Classic in 2022, we’ve been able to donate more than $200,000 to organizations and causes that help to alleviate childhood hunger through our Feeding Families Fund.

OCCU’s vision is to Enrich Lives and we use that commitment as a filter in every decision we make. Whether we are eliminating or reducing fees, making loans to members who need extra support or becoming active participants in a new community, we strive to help to make the lives of those around us better. We believe that we did just that in 2023.
The entire OCCU team holds strong to our vision to Enrich Lives and works diligently to exceed your expectations as a financial partner. Through the shifting economic conditions, rising interest rates and higher prices for basic goods and services that created challenges for so many, we continued to offer ways to help alleviate the stress.
This includes paying top-of-market rates on everyday deposit accounts like Remarkable Checking and Ignite Savings and offering competitive rates on loans, with lower and fewer fees than most other financial institutions.
In 2023, we worked to expand and optimize our services and engage with our communities in even more meaningful ways.
- We improved your debit card experience to offer contactless, tap functionality and advanced fraud detection to bring both convenience and added security to your transactions.
- With the enhancement of your digital experience in mind, we introduced chat and upgraded our online account-opening process to make partnering with OCCU even easier.
- Branches in Redmond and Roseburg are now open to better serve your needs and expand our opportunities for community engagement.
- OCCU Insurance Services was introduced to offer affordable alternatives to meet your home and auto insurance needs.
- Our team members supported nonprofit organizations across the region with more than 4,500 hours of volunteer time and together with the OCCU Foundation, we donated more than $639,000 to our communities through grants, scholarships and sponsorships.
2024 is poised to be an exciting year of forward progress as we continue to work toward delivering additional value to your OCCU membership. We’ll also be joining the communities of Corvallis and Cottage Grove this year and are excited about the new opportunities to engage with our members.
As a member of our not-for-profit financial cooperative, you have not only enriched our lives, but you have allowed us to continue to do the same for OCCU’s more than 264,000 members and the communities we serve. Thank you for your engagement and continued trust in the OCCU team.

OCCU’s Supervisory Committee is appointed by OCCU’s Board of Directors to serve as our members’ representative in ensuring that an annual financial audit and verification of members’ accounts is performed and that the credit union has adequate internal controls to provide for the safety of member assets. The committee engages with qualified firms to perform these functions.
We review all audits and report any significant findings to the Board of Directors. In 2023, the results of the Supervisory Committee’s duties affirm the continued safety and soundness of your credit union.
On behalf of the Supervisory Committee, thank you for your continued engagement in our financial cooperative.
