Free, secure disposal of sensitive documents

For many of us, springtime means it’s time for a little deep cleaning. Spring cleaning shouldn’t just be about purging the clothing and household items you don’t use anymore, it should also be your opportunity to securely dispose of the documents you don’t need anymore.

Since many of the documents you may have lying around your house, or filling up your filing cabinets contain sensitive, personal information, you shouldn’t just toss them in the trash. You should shred and dispose of them properly.

To help you safely dispose of these documents, OCCU is partnering with Access Information Management for our 10th Annual Shred Fest on Saturday, May 19. All community members are invited to participate; being an OCCU member is not required to get your documents shredded.

There are two ways to participate in OCCU’s Shred Fest, on-site shredding during the event or branch drop-off during the month of May.

On-site shredding

Our Shred Fest event will be held Saturday, May 19 at the OCCU Corporate Offices. During this event, we’ll provide free on-the-spot shredding of sensitive documents. Simply visit us during the event and drive-thru with your boxed documents for shredding. We’ll have teams at the ready to unload your boxes and prepare them for the shred trucks. Please limit your shredding to six boxes per vehicle.

Saturday, May 19, 2018
10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
OCCU Corporate Offices
2880 Chad Drive
Eugene, OR 97408

We will also host FOOD for Lane County barrels during this event. Drop your sensitive documents off for secure shredding and give back to the community with your donation of nonperishable food items in one stop.

Branch drop-off

If you can’t make to the event on May 19, you may visit any OCCU branch location during the month of May. Simply bring your box of sensitive documents to any branch location for disposal in one of our locked shred bins (limit one box per visit).

This is our tenth annual Shred Fest and we hope to shred more documents than ever this year. We believe each document shredded helps keep our members and community safe from identity theft. But shredding isn’t the only way to protect sensitive information or eliminate clutter. Enrolling in eStatements can also get rid of those paper related headaches.

EStatements offer a safe and secure way to store your financial information. You can easily view current and past statements without the potential fraud risk that comes with paper statements. If you’re an OCCU member, simply sign-in to Internet Banking and click eStatements in the left Quick Links sidebar. You can also look for other opportunities for electronic statements with your other financial institutions, utilities and credit card companies.

We hope to see you at Shred Fest!
